Susan Frances Roberge (née Verge) of Beebe, Quebec, passed away unexpectedly on April 15, 2026, in Sherbrooke, Quebec. She was born on October 22, 1949, in Newport, Vermont. Susan leaves behind a lifetime of memories defined by strength, independence, and a deep love for her family and friends.

Susan is survived by her beloved husband, Gary Gilbert Hartley of Beebe, Quebec. She will be dearly missed by her children: Jean-Marc Felix Roberge (Suzanne) of Irasburg, Vermont; Rejean (Rick) Emilien Roberge Jr. (Laurie) of Derby, Vermont; Bridget Barbara Roberge of Rock Hill, South Carolina; and Toni Nicholas Roberge (Carrie Ann) of Newport, Vermont. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Melissa Hartley of Calgary, Alberta. Her former husband, Rejean Emilien Roberge Sr., resides in Newport Center, Vermont and her stepmother, Bev Cleveland, resides in Newport, Vermont.

She leaves behind twelve grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, most of whom reside in Vermont: Danielle Lucus, Bradley (BJ) Roberge, Kristen Roberge, Derrin Roberge, Amber Roberge, Rejean Roberge III, Sabrina Roberge, Austin Roberge, Madisen Susan Campbell (North Carolina), Tripp Roberge, Bryce Roberge, Arabella Roberge, Devin Desroches (Kansas), and Dimitri Harrison (Calgary). She is further survived by her husband’s siblings: Bev Warner (Maitland), Alan Hartley, Roland Hartley (Rhonda), and Diana LaPenna (Arthur). She leaves behind her beloved pug, Kalua.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Gayton Valmore Verge and Barbara Alice Lodge, and is now reunited with her beloved paternal grandmother, Marguerite Susan Verge (nee Richer), who lovingly raised her and helped shape the woman she became. She also lost her siblings—Marilyn Stevenson (Verge), Roger Goodell, and Leo P. Verge Sr.—as well as her step-granddaughter, Jasmine Hartley Harrison, who left us far too young in December 2025. Her in-laws, Stewart and Jean Hartley, and sister-in-law Donna Hartley, passed in earlier years, along with her former in-laws, Felix and Monique Roberge.

Susan will be remembered for her strong spirit, unwavering determination, and deep devotion to her family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be especially missed by Gary, to whom she was the love of his life and his soulmate.

Susan wishes were not to have any services. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Diabetes Foundation or the Heart Association.
